We paddled into New Smyrna Beach around 3pm and met up with a river angel named Jean. She was extremely generous. We got a chance to clean up, do laundry, pick up some needed supplies and drink a couple of beers. I finally got to eat some seafood too!
New Smyrna Beach is a beautiful little town, but it has an ominous title, “shark bite capital of the world.” Luckily for us, we’ve only seen dolphins having a good time.
Jean lived directly under the path of planes landing at the municipal airport. It was fascinating watching them pass over so low you could see the pilots face.
We had a lot of fun making new friends and enjoying a little civilization. The next few days should be interesting as we traverse the Space Coast.
