The Return to Key Largo

After waiting nearly a full year, I flew out of Nashville, Tennessee on February 9, 2019, to Miami, Florida to continue my trip on the Florida Circumnavigational Saltwater Paddling Trail. I managed to book a $58 flight and a $45 bed at a hostel. The hostel, Zenmotel MIMO, was located in a nice area of Miami and on Biscayne Boulevard just north of downtown. It was a very clean place with really great staff. I’d definitely stay there again. I shared a room with 4 other travelers, but it was no big deal for one night.

The next morning I woke up early and grabbed breakfast across the street at Jimmy’s Eastside Diner. The banana pancakes were delicious! While I ate, I downloaded the Miami-Dade Transit app and bought a 1-day pass for $5.65. This allowed me to travel all the way to Key Largo for next to nothing. Of course, it took me almost 4 hours to get there but who cares when you save that much money! I found it scenic and intriguing.

  1. I hope you saved your notes from the Mississippi trip, I plan to do it. What to bring, where to visit, what to avoid. ( From the land of sky blue waters )
